HPPIII shift points for 6.0?
#1
I flashed the low octane tune and got it set shifting at 5600 rpm for the 1-2 shift. With the 4:10 gearing it REALLY picks up the next gear much better than the stock tune which was making the shift at a tad above 5000 rpm.
My LS1 in the Z28 (stock tune) shifts from 1-2 at 6000 rpm. So my question is...since these motors are very similar, should I increase the shift points a little more and what do ya'll feel is the "safe limit" for a stock 6.0 with 90k miles on the clock.
BTW...I picked up the HPPIII used for less than half of what a new unit cost (going rate "used" seems to be at $150) and for the price I feel it's an excellent investment...just for those who may be on the fence for such a purchase.

Just play with it to see what gains are going to be best for your truck. I do agree that 5000rpms upshifts are quite low for that 6.0 but it's intended purpose is a work truck...

I still have my HPP3 on my truck and I set the rev limiter to 6200. My 1-2 shift is at 5900, and my 2-3 shift is at 5700 I think, I've been meaning to up it to 5900, but I'm just lazy

Work truck? Well I DO drive it to and from work. I played with it (the HPPIII ;-) today and now I got it shifting 1-2 at about 5400rpm. Not as impressive as my initial tune so tommorow she's going up to at least 5700rpm. I'm still trying to get the speedo dialed in for the 265s and the GPS says the speedo is indicating about 3mph slow at 45. I think after the tinkering tommorow I'll be in the hunt.
