Default HPP3 increasing shift firmness hurt tranny

I posted it a while back in the trans forum but they really didn't give me an answer. If I up the firmness in the tranny with the HPP3 will it hurt my tranny in any way? I've never looked in the HPP3 shift firmness section so I don't know if it offers different levels of shift firmness. Some said that it helps a lot because it keeps the clutches from slipping and helps some other parts I forget. On the other hand putting a little extra strain on other parts but nowhere near enough strain to cause any damage. What do you guys think. I want my tranny to last as long as it can (knock on wood ) just want to know if it will increase the life of my 4L60E. Thanks

From what I've been told, it helps the tranny and extends it's life. I've read that increasing the line pressure and have the tranny shift faster and firmer reduces slipping which reduces heat, which is good for the tranny. There is only one setting on the HPP, it asks you if you want firmer shifts and you say yes or no, that's it. It's not a dramatic difference with the HPP but it is noticable, I like firmer shifts. it won't hurt anything. the 4L60-E can only build so much pressure anyway, there is a pressure bypass in the pump.

Ya i ran it for ever on my truck. The trans is fine and there is only one setting on the hpp3. Now it will ask if you have another aftermarket shift kit in it. Not sure if you put yes on that if it has even more line pressure or not. But it won't hurt anything.

nope, in stock form it won't hurt it. just don't use that with a shift kit.

i like having mine shift firmness set on the HPP3, especially with having a TC. i tried it with and without the firmness setting. it felt less sloppy and it shifted a whole lot better, so i kept it on.

I know this is off a little, but I have the Diablo predator programmer. I increased my line pressure by 25% adn my shift firmness by 25%, and Had to have a total rebuild! Good thing it was still under warranty. I have been told that you should not mess with the line pressure unless you have upgraded internals.

when it asks you if you have installed a shift kit and you say yes, wont it modify the firmer shift setting? Seems like it would be ok if you program it for a shift kit wouldnt ya think? bwe, my hpp3 sucks, for some reason the speed limiter still cuts out at 97. Everything else works fine, but the speed limiter is crapped out
