Default HPP3 ????

A friend of mine has an HPP3 for his 99 silverado. Will it work the same on my 02' silverado, or do i have to get one for the 2002 model?
thanks

Yeah, you have to get an 02 model. Besides, even if it did work, you can't put it on two vehicles at the same time.

Well, he was actually going to sell it to me. I was just wondering if it would work? I thought it would but maybe not? What is different from the 99 silverado to the 02 silverado? I thought the engines were built the same, therefore the HPP3 should work in both. I dont know

I think the engines them selves are exactly the same but it is just a electrical thing, The PP3 will recognize your VIN and therefore wouldn't work unless the model year corresponds with the PP3 you are using. They really have it rigged to sell a ton of these things <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" />

'02 don't have EGR but i doubt that is effected by the HPP3. i'm pretty sure its just like rphinney said. although you may be able to buy it and send it back to hypertech and they can "update" it. i'm sure for all the shipping and the update it'll be just as much as a new one.
