Default How's this for a 6.0/80e

I am looking to replace my 5.3l on my Av to make some more power and at the same time upgrade to a 4l80 and new transfer case. The truck has a turbo on it that so far has made 418 rwhp and 488rwtq. I know it is only a matter of time before the tranny nukes, as it is we are very conservative with the tune.

I have an opportunity to buy a complete assembly from a transit damaged 2004 3500 silverado with 10 miles on it. I will get the engine (6.0) 4l80 and transfer case as well as all harnesses and computer shipped for $4250. It seems like a good deal to me, I could probably save a few piecing it together with more 'used' parts, but how much and is it worth it?

What should be done to strengthen the 4l80 for around 500-500rwhp

What else will I need for the swap?

Thanks,
Ed

I would start with a shift kit at Bare minimum
All depends on your budget
I would build it while it's out and get a new Convertor for it aswell something like a PI vigilante 2800 triple disc
that's not a Bad deal with the computer
Your going to need to get Ls1 Edit or Hp tuners for it being a different year some mor cash outlay

how bout some more Details on your setup maybe some pictures of it ?
How much boost are you running to get those numbers?

9-10psi on pump 93.

I am already using HPTuners, but I have had issues with it that should be resolved in the new version. Will it be able to get this tranny working? Does the 80 benefit from a new servo like the 60?

Debating on the converter... With that motor and the turbo I am wondering if it is needed?

I will get some pics soon, all I have are during development.

If you use the PCM from the 2004 along with HP tuners for 2004 you should be fine
The Stock convertor is a pig and enormous
also a very low stall meant for towing
I would put something in that is more efficient also would be worried about blasts with it locked up
Theres's a few guys selling Convertors/trannys in the forsale section
Also the 80e has different gearing in it 1st 2nd aren't as good as the 60e feels a little more sluggish for sure

a shift kit and you will be set. that really doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. i recomend a converter too. they can keep it mild and very driveable.

you will have to do a few things to get it to all work. run the av computer with a 4l80e flash from speartech. fab up a cross member. lenthen/shorten drive shafts. tcase might not be ideal but it will work.

i would like to know more about your turbo set up too.

Turbonetics t66 mounted next to passenger side bank with front mount intercooler.
I was leaning towards a 2800 stall if any for more streetability, it is my daily driver.
What exactly do I need from speartech, and do I need to change driveshaft lenths or just use an adaptor? I know I will loose the autotrack, but thats ok- I want bullet proof and I'd like to have it done this week.

For a 6000lb+ beast this thing runs, I can't wait to see it with the 6.0 and boost turned up!!
