Default How would the ls6 cam do for me

I have a 2003 gmc sierra ex cab 4x4. bolt ons. I currently run a 15.05-15.15. I do not have a stall but I am planning to get a 3400 -3600 yank. What do you think I would run with just the ls6 cam with good tunning. I am looking to run mid 14's. I heard this cam is good for at least 30-40 rwhp. Let me know. Thanks, Jared

With that big of a stall, you should get a bigger cam

Yeah I thought about that but everyone on the site thinks that the 224-228 581 112 is too big for a 5.3. But I don't really care how this thing drives. I want mean and I want all engine. No nos or no power adders I like all motor. My goal is 12.9 or better. Later

Yeah, either get a bigger camshaft and some better heads, or get a smaller stall. And if you want to go that fast, you are going to need bigger heads and cam.

I agree with your attitude, i think LS6 cam will give you 30rwhp. I think 224/228 cam will work with your stall and with unported heads will work but will require complete tuning. Sounds about right with Lt HEADERS.I will consider Ls6 cam for my 5.3 silverado with My Z28's Stock valved 5.7 heads flowing 290 cfm and 62cc comb. chambers, this will keep stock compression for towing but make great hp also.
