This is how I do it:

You either need to turn the motor over by hand, or have something connected to the starter to bump it over(they sell the tool at any auto parts store for 10-15 bux) Also make sure that your coil is disconnected because you don't want the engine to fire. This is going to seem very tedious, but it won't really take that long. Only do one cylinder at a time. You turn the motor over until one of the valves on that cylinder is most of the way down. Then you tighten the OTHER rocker until right at the point where the pushrod on the one you are tightening will no longer move up or down(this is called zero lash). Then turn it 1/2 a turn, and you are done with that rocker. Then bump the motor over until the rocker you have just tightened goes down about halfway, and do the other rocker on that cylinder the same way as the first. Then move to the next cylinder. Good luck

Aaron

PS this is for a Hydraulic cam. If yours is a solid then good luck. I have never done one of those before.

With your valves all loose rotate your engine untill the valve you want to adjust is completely off the cam lobe. Easy to see if intake is off. If not watch for the pushrod to go down as far as it is going to and watch adjacent pushrod as it starts to lift. Spin the pushrod on the valve you want to adjust between your fingers and start tightening rocker arm untill you start feeling drag on the push rod then turn another 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Do all your valves the same.
