Default how to reduce pcv oil consumption

Ok, i have a little bit of a problem. I consume a lot of oil through my pcv system ever since i changed my valve covers (they don't have the built in baffles).. I used one of the plastic grommet baffles but it still sucks oil up..if i pull the pcv valve out it is full of oil along with the tube going into the intake manifold and there are puddles in the intake manifold. Is there anything i can do to the system so i quite sucking oil into the intake manifold other than putting stock valve covers on (which wouldn't work anyways)

ok why did you change the valve covers? and what did you put on? i am asking because i had to cut the inside of my valve covers out to fit my jessel rockers. i was consuming 4oz. of oil A DAY. so i put valve cover spacers and new stock valve covers on. this eliminated most of my problems. but i have always ran a catch can. this collects the oil so it will not go into your intake. but i still burn a little oil. but i empty my catch can like every month and a half and not much comes out. let me know if you need any more help.

How did you set up that catch can? I noticed on my blower when I pulled it off it had some dirty intake parts.

What would be so bad about pulling the hoses off the intake from the PCV and just let them hang? Is that what your doing with the catch can, just reroute the hoses to the catch can and let them drain there?

ok what you do is get a container can make one buy one what ever. i had a pvc one and it got hot and puteraly sucked its self inside out so now i have a steel one. Basicaly it is about 5-6 inches long and about 2 in. in diameter. you put a fitting thet will accept gas line comming out of the top. then you put one acout mid way down on the can. than at the bottom i have a drain like on the bottom of a air compressor.

run a hose from the valve cover driverside to the inlet in the middle of the can. then run a hose from the top of the can to the intake driver side. this will let the oil fall down nin the can and just air comes out of the top. also you normaly place the can below the intake man.

another thing you can do is just remove the pcv completely and let it vent to atmosphere (sp) but then you do not have a vacume on the motor. there is still debate about this going on in the external eng sect. they said something like the these motors need a vacume for the bottom ring to seal or something not sure and dont remember right now.

you can also get a ls6 valey cover and that helps also but there have been a fiew cases where that did not help either.

ok basicaly look at the pcv sys as a loop one side the driver side is pulling the vacume and the pass side is releasing the pressure. i was told it is best to not have any thing hooked up to the intake so there is no chance for oil to get in there.

as far as the blower application you need to re do the pvc. cause instead of your motor pulling in air there for being able to pull a vacume it is now doing the opposit. air is being forced into the intake there for a vacume is no longer being drawn. so i was told to run a to the blower intake side of the intake tube cause it is sucking on that side and you can get a vacume from there. also there is talk about people getting a vacume from the exhaust.

hopefully this explains it a little bit and sorry it is so long. i am not an expert on this and some of the info may be off a bit. but this is what i have learned from talking to a fiew people like jeff at thunder and craig at gtp. hopefully some one else can chime in verify this

also if i end up running to houston tonight i will shoot some pics of my catch can.

So .. the only side that needs the catch can is the passenger side? This is the one that runs into the TB right?

On the RADIX, all the PCV and the brake booster vaccum lines ran into the intake side of the blower (before the compressor) so they were all seeing vacuum.

no it goes on the driver side. between the valve cover and the intake man.
