I want to level out my truck, the rear sits higher than the front. I have no plans on lowering the truck though, I like them taller.
Who makes the best 2" rear shackle? How much are they? How easy are they to install?
Greg, lets hear it!

Here is a link to the DJM shackles. Its close to the bottom of the page. Yes 2" in the rear is perfect for our trucks.

You could just crank up the torsion bars to raise the front to make it look like a 4x4.

This week, I'm putting 1" lowering springs under the front and 2" drop shackles on the rear of my truck. I figure it will leave it with a slight rake, but hopefully still a noticeable drop, especially in the rear. May also make it easier for my short self to climb in and out of it! I got my windows tinted and my grille also came in so by the end of the week, she ought to be looking sharp!

No more springs up front, they all have torsion bars now. You can probably lower it an inch by adjusting them. If you do it that way, have the alignment checked.

What year did they change to torsion bars ? My 2000 has springs. As far as I know, 2wd's have springs. I put 3" drop springs on mine. That maxed out my alignment.

2" drop shackles

Be sure to get the right shims. Two piece drive shafts with a 2" drop need them. Let me know when you want to do it and while your working on my motor, I can drop the truck. I'll post an install pic in my "Stuff" section on my pic site.
Kristi: Who is doing your springs ? If they pop the ball joints, let me warn you that the boots might break causing premature wear. If you have to replace one down the road, they are a pain. They are riveted into your lower contol arm and pressed into the top. Bottem will cost $75+/- top, is the whole arm at $125+/-. I suggest unbolting from the inside and useing spring compressors. Also you may want to get some spring pads for the bottom of the springs. They tend to rattle, at least on my 3" they did.
Edit: pics are up.

They still have front springs. I have a 2002 and I put 2" coils on the front and 4" leafs on the rear. I know that the 4wd's have torsion bars and maybe the HD's do also. But the regular 1500 2wd's do not have torsion bars.
Nine Ball....I got my DJM 2" shackles from Cutten Customs for $50. I have seen them cheaper, but Cutten had them in stock so I could get them that day. Easy to install. Took me by myself about 30 min to do in my driveway. Drop you trailer hitch...it will make the install much, much easier.

Some friends of mine who work at a Chevy dealership are doing them. They're going to send them to a local spring shop to have them collapsed before installing them so it shouldn't be too difficult, even if they are men Just kidding!
