i was just kind of wondering how many people on here have switched there coolant from dex cool to the older green stuff

 

I would have voted for I plan to soon if it was available. I just read that post.

 

as soon as 36,000 hits, the dexcool is out, and the tried and true green is in.

 

I didnt know we had an option... whats wrong with the pink stuff anyways? Supposed to last for what 100,000 miles?

 

from everything i have read is, the "red stuff" is easily contaminated and when it contaminates it gels up, you also must use nothing but distiled water with the dex-cool or you will have serious rust problems, along with other things

damn it i knew i should have added going to switch or somethin like that

 

that garbage eats intake manifold gaskets

 

a instructer once told me that you could use your rad (if you're running Dexcool) to trickle charge your battery (don't ask me how, I don't remember)

 

thats interesting. you'd probably run a wire from either the metal surrounding the coolant or from a probe in the coolant itself to the positive battery terminal and then just grounding the battery elsewhere

 

that scares me

 

well lots of mixtures, salt for example, do that type of stuff. thats why i want to get the dexcool away from my lifter valley ASAP
