Default How long for a cam install?

I am going to be doing a cam swap with 2 other buddys, we are swapping the cam, springs and retainers. How long of a job is that usually?

You really think it will only take 4 hours, I have build a old 350, my buddies have done a few LT1 cam swaps, and everyone says the LS1's are much easier, what exactly is different besides not having to remove the intake and lifters?

I am sure you could swap a cam in 4 hours, but I am going to say that it will take 8 hours to do everything .

thats true you are doing pretty much a full heads assembly swap besides valves and stuff. do you have the correct tools for the springs and stuff like spring loaders? what about some kinda JPR cam removal tool? to be on the safe side take the day for it, drink some beers and have fun

My first swap I had the cam done in about 5 hours, then the springs took another 3 I think, so I'd say 8 hours for your first time. I could do it a lot faster now that I know what I'm doing and wouldn't have to be reading instructions every step of the way. I would just set the whole day aside for it if I were you.

It took me 6 hours to swap out the cam and springs by myself.. Getting the cam out is the easy part, the springs is what takes the longest..

The springs are taken care of, i have 2 friends who have the tools and are going to do that part for me, I guess as they are doing the springs i will be working on getting the cam out. Any pointers on the whole thing? Any problems that yall have run into?
