Default how the heck do you adjust timing with ls1edit?

i adjusted both tables(low and high octane), added 2deg of timing from 4k to 6k in a large area of the table where i think i am operating. it made no diference in my timing. i was seeing 14.5deg before and after the adjustment. what am i doing wrong?

i have never tried to mess with the timing before.

Blower,nitrous and never adjusted timing <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> thats a scary thought.
Never missed with EDIT(yet)but have you thought about a LS1 Timing Tuner & Nitrous Controller.Part#88-LS1-TT,I've heard good things about them,the only problem is there like $290 <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Yea,kinda gathered that from your original post.Just thought I would ask if you had thought about the timing tuner since your always going up and down with your nitrous and boost.Figured it would be easier to control.

Use the formula in this thread to make sure you are adjusting the right area.

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...;f=23;t=000171

Going off a MAF rate of 55+lbs/min you should be somewhere just over the 1.0gms/cyl range at WOT. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The tables you adjusted should have taken care of things if you got the right area.

Just log rpm and Maf rate and make a spreadsheet up to convert the numbers over. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

thanks for the link but something is wrong with what i am doing.

i am over 1.0 g/cyl so i look at that part of the chart and it shows 10deg or less for timing from 4k up. atap shows 14.5. i added 2deg to that entire part of the chart and still see 14.5deg of timing on atap. hmmmm.

It seems that you have stumbled across the mysterious "X" factor too. I have my timing set for 21*s in a large range, but with autotap, it shows up a pretty consistant 28*s. I've looked up all kinds of ways to calculate it based on MAF flow and rpms, but still haven't been able to nail it. Ther must be some other unknown factor, at least with these trucks, that goes into that timing table.

With 28*s timing, I tried to lower every cell by 2*s. The outcome was 27*s or 27.5* in some instances. I did notice that when I added the KO box, my KR went away, but thats when my timing went above the levels in the table.

Oh, BigTex is right. If you don't adjust the X factor in edit the timing won't be affected much.

Try that and report back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

There has to be something to this. Time for some investigation. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" />

Oh Ken Kelly, where are you. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Jim, try this. Change the whole table to 20*s for every cell. Take it for a drive around the block and log it. If you see no KR, your timing shoud always be 20*s, correct? I would bet it isn't.

John, I've got your X factor right here little man, where do you want it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

if you say that the timing should run in the high 20's, why do you suppose my 6.0l runs at 11.5 at wot?
