How do you take the cooling fan off?

Default How do you take the cooling fan off?

Well im in the middle of tryin to install electric fans...i got the shroud off but now im not sure how to get the fan off? im sure its simple but i dont wanna screw sumin up....thanks!

Get a large enough wrench on that nut and give it a few whacks with a rubber mallet. Should come right off. If it's stubborn, take a light duty propane torch and heat the nut up really good to loosen up the thread locking compound and try again. You might also want to hang a towel on the fan blades should your hand slip. Those blades can be sharp.

thanks guys...im not very good at workin on these trucks....hopefully i can get the belt off and wrap it like the pic shows but i dont even know how to get the belt off....

15MM and push down on the tensioner....Then take the belt off of the Alt......

oh ok thanks for helpin so quick guys!...i got one more question....what are you supposed to put in place of the stock fan? u cant just take it off and not put a bolt back there can u?

You don't need anything to put back. The fan just attaches to the end of the water pump pulley. It doesn't hold anything on.

put some tension on the belt to hold the pulley and turn the fan to the left as hard as you can. be carefull and dont cut yourself on the fans. should back right off
