How do u guys clean your air filter "other than using the cleaning kit"

I use Fantastic. Let it soak, hose it out and then oil it with ATF. The key is not to over oil the filter. Too much will contaminate your Mass Air Flow Sensor causing a lean condition. I would recommend if you are cleaning your air filter to clean the MAF at the same time. CRC makes a good spray cleaner for MAF's.

If its a K&N never think of cleaning it, just get a new one lol. Soz K&N users... xP

does volant make there own cia filters or are they k&n? i got my volant cia off of another truck a few years ago and the filter s life is pretty much done, so i figured id replace it while im doin all my maintence.

Pretty sure that Volant makes their own...I replaced mine with a dry filter from Amsoil, no chance of over-oiling

Are you talking about a stock paper air filter? I thought you couldn't "clean" those. Although I just blow mine out with air until its too dirty and then replace.

I only say that because the OP does not specify if its an After market filter that you can oil.

Oh I see. Post 2 asked the same question and the answer was "the one in the air intake" so I still couldn't tell if you meant stock.

Get a dry filter and just use some air. That way you don't have a chance of getting oil on the MAF
