there are tons of threads on this one. just use the search option, and there is plenty of helpful ideas and parts to use. go to www.store.airflow.com. there is pretty much everything you need right there.

i used some 4" rubber hose from O'reilly's and some 4" aluminized tubing that bent at work. the tubing you can get in 90* form from home depot (duct work). as far as the filter element you can get a nifty rice burner filter/adapter kit from autozone/oreilly's too. I used that kind of setup for a while with various positions for the MAF, but then decided that my warranty was more important than saving money with a ghetto-*** homebrew intake. I then ordered my K&N 77 series that night lol

I made mine out of 4" PVC 90 and a piece of straight 4" PVC. I don't have the cold air part down yet though...

Maybe I should get to working on that

Here's what I made last March. Once I get my electric fans installed I can replace the factory plastic piece by the TB. My filter is a 12" long S&B Racing stack.

I made my own "flare" adapter to transition from 6.25 down to the 3.5" exhaust pipe bends using some spare sheet metal and fiberglass.

Here's a few pics of mine with parts bought at the above store link and an ebay filter/shield. I have about $100 in my setup
