Default How do i get the Fan Assembly off??

Hey guys thanks for the help,

So im changing my water pump and im having trouble getting the clutch fan off, there is a big nut attaching the clutch to the pulley and when i change turn that nut both the pully and clutch move, when i hold the clutch and turn that nut just the pully moves rotating the belt. Any help on where to go from here is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I use vice grips clamped on the water pump pulley, and a big adjustable wrench on the nut.

I would probably put some rtv around the paper gaskets for insurance. I know all of the older 350s used paper gaskets for the water pump and they were fine but the newer trucks got the metal gaskets.

There's a special tool that uses steel dowels that slide into the pulley in 4 locations.

I used a pipe wrench on the pulley with a wooden shim to keep the wrench from biting into the pulley, my uncle had a wrench specifically for clutch fan nuts that you could attach a 1/2" drive ratchet to use as a break-over bar.

EDIT: Didn't read the whole thing and read that you already had it off.
