how about this for extra cooling

I have come up with an idea to help trucks cool off during summer. The idea is to put a water resevoir underneath the cab of the truck, run a 5/8 hose from the tank to the front side of the radiator and poke holes in it above the radiator. Have an electric pump pump water up through the hose and let it spray nice cool water over the radiator. Possible? Who knows.

Don't think it's worth the time or money for probably no gain in performance.
The idea makes since, kind of like a party cool fan that you hook up a water hose to with or without bags of ice behind the fan.
Though the problem will be a messy engine compartment (a no no for me) and extra weight, for probably no gains in 1/4 mi times.
A 160* T-Stat and a .99 cent bag of ice sitting on top of the intake before your 1/4 mi run should do the trick. If you want to go the extra mile, remove your clutch style fan and opt for a quality electric one, add some 40 Below to your coolant and that should do the trick and then some.
Also to add, you would probably get in trouble at the track if you created a puddle of water at the staging lights every time you waited for the green.

My truck stays at operating temp during the Houston summers with just electric fans. What I'm saying is, What performance edge would this give you? I know this was discussed about intercoolers a little while ago. I could see it doing something there.

im just saying for those guys who do have overheating problems. and not for running down the strip.....just for days that you're stuck in traffic and it's really hot.....i know how those houston summers are.....i lived down there when i went to UTI.....i just thought of it as an idea.....seemed kinda probable......and not too much water pressure either......just enough for it to mist on the radiator.....

You graduated I assume. Therefore you should know just as well as I do that a vehicle that's an everyday driver should be able to withstand Houston temps without overheating. If it overheats, fix the problem don't patch it up.
