Default how the **** did this happen?

dammit.

Got the dynatechs off and my driver's side front 02 sensor was being a BITCH to get out. I finally get it out and find this. WTF. It looks like the metal from the header melting into the o2 sensor threads? **** **** ****. Now my front o2 is screwed up as is the threads in the o2 sensor bung. And I'm supposed to be selling these headers.

I swear the **** never ends. Anything can and will go wrong at any time. I now need a front o2 sensor with the same connector as the one above. If anyone has one that they can overnight to me, please let me know. Thanks.

That is crazy odd. I mean...I own the truck of oddities and I can spot something odd.

Overheated maybe? Cross threaded and the chunks melted? I don't know...jeesh, that sucks.

That happens a lot, the threads on exhaust tend to seize up with all the heat cycles and then gaule like that when you remove them and tear the threads out like that. That's why I always put some anti-seize on the o2's when I install them. New o2's even come with a little anti-seize on them.

I would guess it had something to do with heat too since it was screwed into the collector. The passenger side front 02 is farther downstream (albeit not too much farther).

Are the front and rear o2's interchangable if I switch the connectors? I just need to be able to drive my truck monday.

I guarantee you it was not crossthreaded. The o2s are always put in by hand and then tightened at the end with a wrench.

I will now know to use antiseize on them! I actually just got thru putting anti-seize on all my header studs today.

I've never seen the threads actually melt, certainly freeze up and you tear them up taking the o2's out, but not melt like that. Anti-seize is a friend I found a couple of years ago too...wonderful thing.

so can I use the rear 02 on the front or not? They have the same color wires, but the connectors are different. Im looking to see right now if I can switch the connectors or not.
