Home-made ram air - is it worth it?
#1
I have been thinking of routing a 3 or 4" duct from the tow-hook hole up to the air box (I would cut a hole in the metal support plate and lower airbox since I have the UPD that retains the stock lower air box) - but my question is....will the rammed air have any noticeable effect? Will the stock t/b, maf, and afe filter flow enough for the ram air to have a significant effect? I'd just like to be sure before I spend the time cutting and everything.

From what it seems to me...hacking the bottom off the stock air box combined with the UPD makes decent power.
The extra power coming from the "Ram-Air" mod is that the lower airbox can now pull in air from more places.
I haven't seen any conclusive evidence that "Ram-Air" of sorts acutally works.

i dont think it does anything. i tried it for awhile but felt no difference.i think the main resaon it doesnt work is because the air has so much turbulence when coming through the ram air setup.

from my experiences the power part of it i dont think you can actually feel.probably minimal at most. but what i have found is that it cools the intake temp down faster with it which in turn will help.

made my own, and i have it where you can cap it off, for high water. anybody in the houston area want to feel the diff, let me know. ill give you a ride. you can diff tell at higher speeds that the ram air works. hence forth ram air does nothing for you at a stand still or at low speeds.

01 Thunder - where did you get all the plumbing and what is that white peice that is going through the airbox - it looks like it has a lip or something holding it in place
