Default hey black, how's that intercooler?

Do you have anymore impressions now that you have driven it a little more? Has it allowed you any more timing advance?

I was quoted 659.00 but that does include the expensive shipping to alaska.

Ok, finally got my air/fuel dialed back in. I raised timing from 15 degrees to 17 and tested in 3rd gear(most load where I run the least amount of timing)
15 used to be the most I could run in 3rd gear. At 17 there was no sign of knock! I'll try some more tomorrow.

Looks like the IAT's raise about 20 degrees in a 1/4 mile. Old intercooler--they rose 50-60.
Airflow is still way up there, about the same at the bottom of a gear as it used to be at the top.
It feels exactly like it used to in the winter now. And that's a BIG change.

Ya doing a good intercooler brings back that winter feeling
In the summer with the whipple non-intercooled it was like I was N/A almost.
I run 24*advance on a 6lb pulley and 17*advance on a 12lb pulley -91pump and no detonation

A little more good info for you BlownAlaskan. Looking over before and after logs, I noticed the airflow gains are alot bigger in third gear. Where the temps were getting into the 150 range with the old cooler, airflow really dropped off. Comparing third gear I gained 8 lb/min at 4900rpm and 12 lb/min by 5200rpm! It really moves through third alot faster now.

Gee that is really a large improvment. Do you happen to know what the volmue difference is with the new cooler vs our little procharger units? I am exactly like you, in the winter up in AK, my truck seems to make much more power than in the summer.

I wonder if you can bump your advance even more in that area..? Are you staying around 11.8:1?

Volume, I'd say it takes roughly 3 times the air to fill it versus the old one.

I've already bumped it 2 degrees in that area with no knock. Gonna keep bumping it till I see knock.

I tuned the Air/fuel to 11.5-1 until 5600, then leaned it slightly to 11.8-1 from 5600-6000.

Keep me posted... I just might have to order this thing. Does it still feel strong?

3 times bigger, that's great. Are you still using the tr6 plugs? I wonder what their threshhold really is as far as fighting the predetonation. How hot are your ambients in SLC?

Get it! You won't be dissapointed. Feels strong......still

Still using TR6's Lots of people have maxed their maf plus some on TR6's so I'm not too worried.

Ambients have been around 80 lately when I log. Around 11:00 pm. Something else nice with this cooler is IAT's stay within about 4 degrees of ambient at cruise. Compared to 10-15 above ambient with the old one.
