Story of truck:

2006 GMC Sierra Z71 Extended Cab Came with the L33.. Got truck with 200k miles on it.. can't sell it so I plan to keep it and use it as my DD to work and winter truck.. I am going to swap a set of ton axles under it next fall along with a little lift and some bumpers and sliders and start using it as a play toy on the weekends to go watch my buddies tear up their rock buggies and be there as a sort of backup / recovery for them..

I want to keep the thing on the road with driveability and durability being key.. I want to keep my 4L65 in the truck but switch to an NP205 for durability.. (Dont try to talk me into a 4L80.. I hate the gears and spacing in them).. I do tow trailers too.. but only periodically.. I plan to run 35s and 4.10s in the axles.. with ARB front and detroit rear lockers.. I think this should keep me in the same RPM range on the highway as a 3.73 truck is with stock 32s..

The engine will indeed be an LQ9 rebuilt on the bottom with the heads from the L33 on it.. thus giving me mid 11.x:1 compression to play with.. I want just enough cam to tell it has one and keep the LSA wide and use the compression.. and not waste it.. Plan to run long tubes and real dual 3" Maggy mufflers..


Oh and as for tires and such.. I will likely be running something street friendly like the BFG rugged trail in an E range.. and one of the main things is that I don't want to ruin my mileage.. I don't plan to lift the truck more than i have to to clear the 35s and suspension will be setup with very little up travel and more on the droop side for trails..

Can someone suggest a cam... as well as possibly some sound clips. lol
