Help - Tune and cam for daily
Hey all,
I need some advise. I am looking to gain a little power that I can feel from my daily driver 06 ECSB 2wd 5.3
I want some added power I can feel, but nothing too wild and expensive.
I have 20" wheels, swapped my 3.23 gears for 3.73, gmpp cold air intake, flowmaster 40 series.
Everything I read says a tune will fine tune and wake up these trucks. A mild cam swap is about as deep as I want to go. I was also wondering about something like the slp 1.85 rockers.
What would it gain/feel like on just a tune? Would just rocker swap be ok for me, or is cam swap better bang for the buck?
And at what point do I need to consider a stall converter. I have heard or running the trailblazer converters also.
I want a solid dependable driver that is stronger than a lot of average trucks on the road, but not worried about getting every tenth of a sec out of it.
Also, since it is a daily, how much power/feel would I lose by sticking with a tune for 87 octane, 89 at mos vs. 93
I currently get about 15 - 15.5 mpg with mixed driving.
Thanks for any info, tips.
