An easy thing to check is to pop the surrounding plasic off and take out the little screws holding the cluster in and pull it out. Once it's out there's a harness plugged on the back. Make sure it's plugged in and maybe even turn the key to run and wiggle the wires a little to see if the lights flicker or whatever. This is super simple and should take maybe 3-4 minutes to do.

Is it JUST the cluster? I had something similar happen to me, but it was the gear indicater/milage, fuel guage, temp guage, and somehow cruise control and the A/C blower motor did not work either. It turns out, after tracing a million wires and relays, that a plug on the steering colomn was loose but not completely disconnected. Sorry, this didn't help much, but I would say go through and push on all of your connectors before you begin tracing wires. Good Luck
