Put the damn engine in a Fiero, 2600lb car and there are only two known LS1's in Fieros, both are the aluminum 5.7 block. It would be different and insanely fast. A few people have mounted engines longitudial in the rear instead of transverse in the rear. If you did a 6.0 like that, you would have the only such car in the world. I belive they are using TH425 trannies and can handles just about any amount of horsepower.

If you have the know how this would be the way to go. Think about it. A car that weighs 1000lbs less than a vette, has a 5 star saftey raiting. Has many V8 conversions along with just about any other engine conciveable to man. For the V8 conversions www.v8archie.com and he is working on a LS1 kit so normal people can do it easily. Plenty of tech support from people who do insane things like this. www.fiero.nl and that board has the two people with the LS1 swaps. Its an American car and they do not catch fire. The 84 fieros had bad connecting rods, they broke and went through the block. If you have an 84 today, you have good connecting rods. No other year Fieros had the problem. This wasn't bad engineering this was a problem with a foundry, and GM forced those rods down Pontiacs throat.

If the interior looks too dated, swap a 94 or up camaro/firebird dash. Its been done before and detailed on www.fiero.nl. The best part is the car will only cost you around 2500 dollars for an average model/condition car.

without looking it all up again seems like the basic conversion parts were around $2000, i bet you can get a complete ls1 with tranny and all that other stuff for around $2000, and a high mile car for about $6000, the guys says right on the site it is an easy swap that anyone with a garage and a hoist can do.

knowing how projects go it would probably really be more like $12000. not too far from the price of a high mile 97/98 vette i guess

American engines should go in American cars, otherwise it makes foreign cars look fast.
