Werd... Running a used converter is a gamble. It's a gamble that I lost big on, as well as a few others on the forum.

My rules for buying used converters are only run them as is if they have less than 5k miles and came out of a perfectly working trans. If they have over 5K and/or came out of a trans that failed or was on it's way out, then send it out to be freshened up. I'll probably start buying new converters from now on... well maybe not.

Got a Bullet Racing 218/222 .544/.544 113lsa cam which should be ok with my stock converter for now, PAC 1218s, Comp 7.4s, LS2 timing set, and LPP headers.

What should I do for the exhaust? Keep the true dual, use an X pipe, or use the Y and go single from there back? I here a lot of different opinions. I always though boost applications worked best with true dual/x pipe and NA is best with 3" Y.

My truck has a **** ton of torque with a 2-1/2" y-pipe to single 3", so that's what I'll recommend to you, especially since you're spinning an 80E with stock converter and all that weight of a 3/4 ton truck.

Thanks for answering. I'm definitely going that route then. Should be pretty badass, still undecided about a muffler. Corsa would be my first choice, but they're too expensive. Probably just go with a Borla.

Well, got all the parts installed and got it retuned. It's definitely a lot faster. It doesn't really start pulling hard until around 3800 though, which I thought on a 218/222 it'd pull lower. My next plans are to get some different tires on it and I NEED a converter really bad.

Found some stock HD wheels. I'm planning on running some 265s and a 2/3 drop just so the truck sits better on this setup. Hopefully this makes a big difference going from 20" cast rims and 33x12.5 M/Ts to 16" aluminums and 265s. Then comes a stall converter. Not sure on a brand yet. PI, CircleD, or Yank. After that the 799s will be sent to Advanced Induction for resurfacing and p&p. Going to look into an intake to go with the head swap. Hopefully I can make low 14s maybe break into the high 13s.
