Default help with the LS 1 EDIT

Does anyone have a 00' chev.silverado 5.3?
And if so, what extras have you installed?
I have lots of extras and one of them is
a larger cam. This cam has caused a problem
with my timing. My truck wants to die
when you come to a stop. I have the LS 1 EDIT
that you are supposed to use to fix this
problem but Iam not sure what to do. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome Keith. I agree with gremlin, raise the idle speed from the 550-600 range up at least over 750. Its going to depend on your cam. If you went really big, you might want it even higher.

Am I going to have to bump my idle up with the 212/218 cam in my 4.8L? I talked to the guys at Thunder Racing and they said that I shouldn't have to.

Any thoughts?

I had my 212/218 cam installed at Thunder Racing and they bumped up the idle for me, without even having to ask. They also made a slightly larger hole in the throttle body blade.

look at my file over at www.ls1edit.com at the bottom of the page under "flash file library" for a 1999 truck. I idle at 600 in gear and 625 in park.

Sceam, I have NO driveability issues with my 208/216 .500/.500 lift cam. I bumped up idle a little to smooth out the engine from shaking. Sometimes I put it back to stock idle to hear it lope just for fun <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
