Sorry to hear about it man, hopefully the 3/16 will work, if not, I used 16 pen magnets with no problem, just test them all out first.
That's not the problem. I have done enough now and looked at enough bare blocks to see what is going on. The passage way that the rod is inserted thru is drilled halfway thru the block from the front and then the rest is from the rear. They don't always meet in the middle dead on. Probably about 2-3 blocks out of 10 will not work with the JPR tool or rod method. I have seen some blocks with a 1/4" mis-match. This is when you have to use the magnet method or chance method.

SC, You get that cam in there yet? Don't make me come down there and show you how to put that thing in. If I do I might have to bring a motor back with me.

we usually just spin the crank and it you dont hear the hitting them all is usually well and just hurry up and get that cam in. My 04 didnt hit anything when we turned the crank over a few times. But we did a 00 and all you heard was ting, ting, ting were a lifter kept dropping. We just used 5/16th dowels in it and those worked perfect. I wasnt about to spend cash on that JPR tool when they dont work half the time

i had the same issue when installing mine. using a 5/16 wooden dowel it slid right in on one side with no problems. the other side would get hung up a little over half way back. not like a dead stop, but rather it would start tightening up until it stopped. i had bought a 1/4 dowel just in case so i tried it and it slid in just fine.

Well after much hoopla about nothing, I spun it like crazy & just pulled it. No problems at all. I want to thank everyone for all their help; especially Jethro3 for helping me out & doing all the hard work.

The idle is quite choppy, and has a great sound to it. 500 rpms is a little low it seems for this to try & idle. I am hoping to go to Allen's Friday for a live tune & dyno run, then to San Antonio Raceway on Friday night for paper proof!!
