Default Help! On heads and cams

Hey guys I have a 2010 silverado 2500 HD 6.0L on 37. Getting 4.88 gears probably next month. and I'm trying to figure out what heads I should run. I have 823 heads on it now(stock). Just wanting alittle bit more power. And plan on running 8psi turbo later down the road.

You won't get much out of doing the heads right now. The 823's flow more than enough for a 6.0. A cam would be a much better investment, although if you plan on going turbo, I'd just put the money towards that.

Yea skip the heads... a cam will make a decent improvement in the mean time, but a turbo is where all the meaningful gains will be had.

Well what type of cam? It's my daily vehicle but also don't wanna blow the **** up. And what about intake manifold? Something that would bolt right up. Maybe off of a corvette or something?

Well in a truck, let alone with those tires, you need torque, so you want to stay away from pretty much anything Vette. If you're really getting a turbo, do it. If what you are saying is that you don't have the money for it right now, save for it and don't waste time and money on the little stuff until you get to that point. I set my mind on my current header and exhaust choices waaaaaay before I had enough for them. I almost caved to instant gratification many times. Cheaper headers, swap in a better muffler on the stock pipe...... but i held out. Save and get what you really want.

if you are going turbo then just save for the turbo. the heads you have are just fine for what you want to do. the gears will really wake it up in the mean time

As mentioned your current heads are very good. I would get a good turbo cam now. It will add a nice bump in power now and help for later down the road. Something like the isky triple12 cam is a great option for a daily and you will likely see a nice 50hp bump.

The triple 12 does work well. I would likely want more exhaust duration with square port heads.

The intake and heads you have are basically the best gm has to offer for a truck, i was looking into a fast lsxrt intake (but for the rectangular port heads) and whoever it was i talked to at FAST said they have been tryin to build an intake better than what comes on it and flat out told me they couldnt!! If you plan on goin turbo i agree save up for it. The ls3 intakes flow well but lose torque in lower end over the truck intakes!! I think weve all fallen prey to ok lets do this and then 6months/year later end up shelling out money to get what we really wnated to begin with.... I am kickin myself for using stock manifolds and cat pipes off a silverado ss when what i really wanted was a set of long tubes that would mate up to the ss exhaust..... And if id researched it about another week and a half, i found the headers for about $2-300 more than what i had in the cats/manifolds but at time stock stuff was more readily available and i had some time constraints....
