Default help finding cam for bolt on 4.8

i need help finding a cam for high rpms i gotta 2003 gmc 4.8 with cal headers trans and 5.13 gears the gears are really low for out of the hole got rear end with locker for cheap so i took it made a world of difference just need just a little more top end any suggestions????? thanks guys!!!!

Are you planning on a higher stalling converter as well? That will really be the determining factor on how big a cam you will be able to run.

yea my trans is getting ready to go by by i need help can never get help on here what you thinkin on converter? i was gonna do a 3000 stall but the guy i got the rear end from said its kinda hard cause the gears are so low what you think on converter and cam???

I wouldn't go bigger than a low 21x/22x cam in a 4.8. If that big. A high 20x/21x would probably do it. With those gears a 2500 rpm converter is probably all you'll need also.

Wow 5.13 gears? Nice, I got to give you some credit there for being a little different with the gear choice and sort of thinking outside the box. Bet that thing gets out of the hole pretty well.

With that being said those low gears definitely gives you a bit more freedom than usual to stick a bit of a "bigger" cam in that 4.8. Like as already mentioned something in the low 220 ish range I think would even be fine for your setup.

thanks guys really appraciated it never got help on this fourm before just been snoopin around to try and find ideas and to get a lil more out of it! yea it gets out of the hole hard and pulls hard the hole way for the few bolt ons i got! im doin a little bit at a time got shorty headers cal diablo tuning and the gears was thinkin cam and trans next what you guys think?

i want to but dont know who to send it too? i wanna do just bolt ons a cam and spray it got all the stuff for the bottle just need to do a trans and cam tryin to figure everything out isnt to easy!

have code keeps coming up for my cats to there gone blew them out need that deleted on my tune whos my best bet to go with?
