what engine were you measuring? typically stock bottoms measure between .006-.010.

and you're right. typo on my part! typically they will measure between .006-.010 in.

This was a 2000 LQ4. 0.006" to 0.010" IN the hole (positive deck height) is what I was getting.

At least in the LS1 and LS2 world, the typical deck height is .006" out of the hole.

interesting, I wonder if that is an inherent difference between the iron and aluminum block engines.
