help with 5.3
#1
Hey guys ! I just finished mounting a 2001 5.3 truck motor into a 1968 chevy. Now I need help with 3 things. I am going to run a inline hi-press fuel pump and fuel filter near the tank. How much pressure and gpm does the 5.3 need. Running the fuel line & pump is no problem, but What can I use or how can I hookup to the factory Fuel line on the engine? The fuel line and return line are both side by side. on the left rear of the engine.
I am not sure if I wanta change my intake. Or if it will even help with a little more power. But besides the truck intake,I do have a camaro LS-1 intake. Will it fit,or is it worth the change.
I have the orginal 2001 truck complete bumper to bumper wiring harness. But mostly I am just lookin to use the truck harness. Do you have anyone that reworks wiring harnesses and computers? THANKS !

you dont have to change the intake, as a matter of fact i wouldnt change the intake. What i did with my 5.3 is i used a filter like you find on the 93-2002 camaro. Go to you local parts suplier, like car quest or napa(not advanced or autozone, the do not have these fittings), they have the "quick connect fuel line fittings. you are gonna need 1 5/16" (for the fuel rail) and 2 3/8"(1 for the fuel rail and one for the filter). Come out of your tank to the quick connect, to the filter then to the pump by however you are running your lines, then from the pump to your fuel rail. As for the return, just come from your tank to your fuel rail via the quick connect.
Tip: I ran stainless braided line for my fuel lines. You can use high pressure rubber and hose clamps though I wouldnt reccommend it. However if you use the stainless braided line, you should have your parts store crimp your lines together, it nor only makes for a clean install, it is safer.
