Default help!!

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to achieve 6-700 hp out a cast 5.3. i am looking for a good stroker kit that can handle quite a bit of boost. i am unsure about what kind of cam to buy too. should i look to go radical on the cam. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
cade

You'll need all forged internals and some sort of forced induction with some serious boost. It isn't exactly an easy task to accomplish.

Disclaimer-For those who contradict me: Yes I know you accidentally dynoed at 18 pounds of boost, or you ran a 250 shot on your stock engine once, w/e. The bottom line though is that you're going to need more than just a radix with 10 pounds of boost to hit 700 rwhp.

If you put a stoker kit on it it won't be a 5.3 anymore.

It wouldn't be very reliable because its gonna take some very radical components to pull it off.

Default ideas?

well any ideas would help. should i go with a different block entirely? i first started looking at the lsx block but swayed away because i didnt know much about it? can i still use everything from a regular ls engine with it or would i have to go with a totally different system? i need good ideas that would be most benificial for me! I need something that will handle a very good amount of boost.
Thanks

Ask yorself

How big (CI)?
Compression Ratio?
What type of power adder?
Budget?

There are enough build write ups on here to keep you busy reading for a week or two.

That's a mighty big number for a 5.3 (or anything close to that displacement). A LS7 only makes 505hp from 7.0 liters and the new LS9 is going to make 620-650 from a supercharged 6.2 liter.
A big turbo and lots of money will get you close.

All foreged internals, and some serious boost will get you there easily. I doubt it'll be a 5.3 anymore but you can do it off of the 5.3 block. I'm pretty sure GM uses the same block for the 5.3 and 6.0. Because thats what's written on my burn up LQ4 in the garage.

The 4.8 and 5.3 are the same block with a different crank. The 6.0 uses a different block but uses the 5.3 crank.
I did learn the 4.8/5.3 block can be bored to the 5.7 (LS1) specs (3.90ish) so you can use some of those parts if you wish.

lq4's an iron block too isn't it?

if you were looking into an lsx block, i'll assume money's not much of an issue. i'd suggest stroked/turboed lq4... thats my plan for those numbers anyway
