Default Help with 4.8 cam selection for my LS swap

I've got a 2003 4.8 that we are just putting new bearings and rings in. Its going into my 95 jeep yj. Because the 4cyl sucks.

while I got the 4.8 apart I am milling the heads to bump CR to 10.5. A little porting in the head.
Basicly a stock 4.8 with a CR bump and cam swap .

I have no idea what cam would be best for this setup. I know the 4.8 is not a powerhouse but it will wake my little jeep up.

jeep weighs 4100# with ls swap
has 4.88 gears
38" tires on 17" wheels
th350 trans - stock converter since it will be daily driven
e-fans
lt headers

I just want a little lope at idle with a decent tq curve across the board. A

any help will be appreciated.

A 212/218 size camshaft will do fine.

With a 112 or 114 LSA

I think the 4.8 is perfect for this swap. Highly underrated engine. Good luck on your build!

Would the BTR weekend warrior Stage 2 cam be fine?

Bueno

grab some LS6 springs if the cam package doesn't include them and have fun!

You should have a convertor with some stall with that combination. Probably 2500-2800rpm.

I think a stall would be bad when out crawling and slow trail riding.I went with this cam because it says that it works with a stock converter.

That's a pretty general statement, since there's a lot of factors that go into proper stall for a given camshaft, so you have to take that with a grain of salt. Displacement, weight, gears, tire height, use, etc

Although you have a decent rear gear, it's offset by the taller tires, so no real advantage there. You're on the smaller side being a 4.8 vs. the 5.3/5.7/6.0 that come in most trucks and LS1/6s. The other factor going against you is the TH350 only has 2.52 1st gear while the 4.8L would normally accompany a 4L60E with a 3.06. Might still work without a stall, but it's iffy.
