youll be ok on the lifter trays and you dont have to pull the heads to change the cam..just a heads up..never changed an oil pump yet

Here's a good writeup on a cam swap. It's in an f-body, so it will be a little different, but the internal engine work will be identical.

im doing heads too ,but how would i have changed cam without pulling heads .how would i have held the lifters up ,or would i have just have pulled them up and out of the way?thanks on the oil pump i thought i read on a posting in here that you did .but to be safe can anyone give me some help on it ,it looks like the pickup tube is going to be in the way and of course attached to the pump.{remember firstimer}thans for help.

in the link that thunder550 put up it says how to do it with some rods..on the cam retainer plate there are the two holes on both sides..you push long wooden or metal rods through there and they hold the lifters up
