I had to do basically the same thing with my 03 (and so did deezel and several others I think). The PCM isn't dead, its flash is just corrupt and needs to be uploaded again. No need to buy a new one.
That will work !! - Nice thinking... Really any truck under the 3/36 ...
or is the ECM covered under the emission warranty of 5/50 ??
ECM may be considered an emissions device.

I'm guessing it's too late for that... He allready said he had it towed to a dealer and if they told him it's going to be $1000 to fix it I'm betting he told them how it happened.

Go to another dealer.

Take the PCM to a LS1 performance shop and have then do the work. I think deezel can testify to the benefits of doing it this way.

Heh, thats what I did. They thought maybe I hooked up the battery cables wrong. LMFAO. I felt bad but then I realized that my Dad payed for an extended warranty, so it all works out in the end.

I was just about to ask something about an extended warranty too. I bought the 5yr/100000mi extended warranty and what you are saying is, the extended warranty covers the pcm?

An extended warranty should cover everything if its a bumper to bumper warranty. Some warranties may only be the drivetrain though. You just can't let them know that you caused the damage, and it should be covered. If one dealership says they won't cover it, take it to another one as most claims are up to the service manager you are dealing with.

Yeah besides the fact that the fuses shouldnt have anything to do with your PCM getting fried . The reason they tell you to remove them is because certain electronics inside your vehicle communicate with each other and the signal that they send to each other causes certain disruptions in the PCM programming. Removing the fuse merely deads the communiction between the items and therefore can't interfere with the programming. If you followed the instructions exaclty like they were stated then yes you def. have a case against them especially if they dont do anything to help you.
