Default Heat shield under intake

I'm a little surprised this hasn't been brought up yet after Super Chevy ran the article. Has anyone tried using any heat shielding underneath truck intakes? I'll give this a whirl in a few months. I'll try heat shielding material or mobile home roof repair (basically dynamat except 1/10th the price). Figure it can't hurt. They got 17hp from some heat shielding on an LS6.

I put some reflective heat shielding on the bottom side of my NBSS intake. I have no evidence if it made any improvement of not. I had left over material any way so it didn't cost me anything and i figured it couldn't hurt

It may help for low profile intakes that sit almost on the valley cover. Truck intakes are high profile if I am not mistaken with tall runners. I run a ls3 intake on my setup and was going to put some under it next time i have the intake off, I believe its like a quarter inch gap between it and the valley cover. But like the previous response it never hurts anything!

Yeah, good call on the tall *** intake. For those who've never had their intakes off, consider there's foam on the front and back to keep dirt out (I imagine) and that probably keeps heat in. I'll try it when I get back and see what the intake temps read on HPT.

I shot a thermometer at my intake the other day and it was sitting right at 130 degrees. I'm gonna put this mobile home roof repair on the underside of it this weekend and see what happens

I think ducted air, like they do for racing brakes, would be more beneficial.

I think it's a moot point for a daily driver but race truck.
