Default heads question

im looking into getting a set of cylinder heads. what would be better for the 5.3L? the ported set of 5.3L heads for texas speed with the 2.02 valves. or the ported LS6 heads milled down with the 2.00 valves.

The texas speed heads are meant for a bigger bore than a stock 5.3, if you go that route I would have the chamber machined to unshroud the valves.

Personnaly Id go with the ls6 heads milled with a tighter gasket; they are alot more cost effective.

Richard @ West Coast Cyl. Head had some great information for me on a similar questions I had. Try giving him a shout.

Otherwise hardly anyone else will even reply to a question like this. I don't know why, but they just don't offer any expertise or opinions.

I posted this same wuestion just a short while back. I'm looking st the stage 1 5.3 heads from PRC (Texas Speed). Not much response. I would talk to Richard. Also, Allen (Nelson Performance) has a set of the 5.3 PRC heads. He said he is going to try to install them on his Avalanch this week maybe.

I neve rhave figured out why no one chimes in on questions like this one. I had a simple camshaft question about a Crane Z Cam Quicklift and if it hadn't been for Jared and BudHayes I don't think anyone would have responded.

2.00" valve size would be the max to go with a 5.3L bore.
tsp ls6 stage 1's http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=649 there you go!
have them milled, run a thinner gasket to keep up the cr.

Maybe it's because not many know the answer? It probably doesn't help that you're being a dick about it either. It's not like you have to pay for all this information. We're lucky enough to have it at our fingertips for free.
