sorry man but if you want power and good gas mileage, get a LS based car.
an EC is only going to get worse.

What the hell? How does anybody expect 20 city in a truck??? The most efficient 1/2-tons right now are rated at 20-22 on the highway; why would even think for a minute that any less than that in the city is bad? I average 11.8 in the city, 14.5 on the highway, and I drive a 6.2 6-speed 3.73 truck leveled on 33s. I'm not impressed with my mpgs, but I'm not getting bent out of shape about them either.

Well I guess that's it then. This is one project that just doesnt fit into my life at the moment. I would like to thank everyone for thier responses. I think im gonna trade my 4x4 ranger for a 2 wheel drive 4 Banger or something. The thing is, I have to daily drive my truck as my mustang gets horrible gas mileage, I refuse to buy a third car and can't get rid of my truck as I have dirtbikes. 4 Banger ranger or Tacoma here I come.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Ok what about this lol

A 2003 2wd 5.3 is rated at 15/19

What if i did only the following mods?:

k&n intake
ported throttle body
long tubes
high flow cats
2.5 inch piping
magnaflow muffler
tune

Think this setup will be able to retain the stock 15/19 or maybe bump it by 1 MPG?

Also how do I know which ones come with the 3.08's or 342's?

the lack of a manual transmission behind a 5.3 is what kills the mileage capability of these trucks.
