what are the stock heads on a 2002 5.3? would a set of 241s resurfaced .010 and fully refreshed 25000 miles ago be worth swapping?

no the 241s are not good heads. maybe some 243s. or just save some money and get some ported 5.3 heads.

still just to have 243s you have to have them milled quite abit to retain stock compression ratio

are they 706's? some one chime in.....if so I would keep the 706's and do a pnp and step up on the valves and a .030" mill and bump up compression in the 10.X to 1 range.

if you mill the stock heads that much. will it require you to use premium octane fuel?

yes, but gas is $1.50 a gallon....so I like the higher comp idea, I wonder how much it will bump up power?
