Default Which heads

Ok, so I've been searching and didn't get any good answers.

I'm looking for a good budget head under $1000 for my new (well practically new 05' 1800 miles) LQ9 shortblock.

I don't really need something for all out hardcore racing, since this is going to be my daily driver still.
I plan on keeping the TB stall for now, I know I'll probably regret it later but its been good so far.
Cam wise, I'm still undecided. Maybe the TR224, or some like 224/232?

Should I just stick with the stockers for about $300 or spend a little more and get more?

Do you really have a 5.7L LS1 in that thing? Why change after putting that in?

Yup, yeah I got it for a decend price but it has high miles on it and I just wasn't seeing the HP I was hoping for.
Time for something new.

Yeah but with stock heads I'd be at 10.5:1(10:1) whatever stock compression ratio is and with LS6 heads being 64cc that would probably bump up my compression ratio way too much don't you think?

it would depend on how much they are milled... when i got my tea's I wanted 11:1 cause they came 10:8(stock compression i believe) from them unless you specified otherwise.

if you run 92-93 gas, then 11:1 would be fine cause thats what i run on my TA. I wouldnt go much higher for street.

im not sure what LS6's are factory.. i would think 10:8

Looks like the LS6 heads would bump me up to 11:1. I still don't know if I want that high of CR. Most gas around here is 91, I believe one or two stations may have 93 but is it truely 93 or a sales pitch?

I don't plan on doing it much but I might be towing or hauling heavy loads around in the summer and don't want to risk it pinging.

Maybe I'll just stick with the 317s and try and find someone local to clean them up a bit?

That's what I'd do.

U keeping everything else stock and only changing heads? I just bot an LQ9 and starting to dig into what types of new rolling stock to drop in. Definately gonna go with machined forged rods, pistons, bigger TB, new Cam, rollers, rockers & lifters...likely have a look at valves too. Its gonna be my daily driver as well, with shorts trips to the train every am, and 3hr h-way trips every weekend. I will alsio be transferring my Radix over so wanna keep the conmpression @ 9.5:1 so a mild cam will be in order. What are u doing about transmission? I'm gonna look for a used 4l80e...R/

No I'll probably be changing the cam as well. I've got a TB stall that I'll be using for now.
For the trans, I'll be keeping my stocker until it goes and then I'll probably get a FLT unit for easy of installation.
