i am seriously considering buying the obx lts and y pipe . my problem is that on my truck there is no factory y pipe. the exhaust comes from the manifolds to the cats with two single pipes straight to the rear of the truck, if your are familar with the stock exhaust on a sss you know what i am talking about. my question is if i buy the obx set up, how will it work and still use the factory "true dual" system. i like the obx y pipe because it has the bungs for the o2 sensors and i like the resonators. can i just cut the obx y pipe where it Y's?

another question: my dad is not fond of this header idea on a truck that gets drove alot, he says all the headers on street vehicles he has had leaked. and that he blew gaskets all the time. will this be a problem for me? i have read that using oem gaskets is a good idea.

The OBX are very, very good headers.

And so you know, they make a version for your 6.0 with the dual pipes.

The header collectors have flanges and will not leak. There will be no leaks installed properly.

 

I'm not sure if i would go to that extent to describe them, but if you can get them to fit they seem like a nice set of headers. I've heard of tons of people receiving bent clamps and gaskets. Tons of 4wd guys have had to smack them around to get them to fit because they're based on an almost 10 year old design.

With that said they are one of the better sets you can buy for the price. If you live in an area where Salt isn't an issue then I would get pacesetters. They fit much better, you can buy with without the ypipe, and they seal fine.

 

Once you have both in hand there's no comparison between the two. The OBX is every bit as good quality as any header you can buy for our trucks. The welds are very, very nice on them. And actually, the OBX's are cheaper than the Pacesetters. The OBX's have dummy cats which is also a plus if you're worried about passing a visual.

 

i dont have any emissions stuff here, so that wont be a problem. i went to obx's website and all i could find was ricer stuff?

search for them on ebay at sparktec i have them on my 08 5.3 and they are great i would suggest wrapping them because my truck is throwing a code after putting them in. someone suggested that would solve my problem

 

i'd run the pace so long as no salt is a issue as Mark has said. Plus you will be getting a larger collector.

 

check with our sponsors on the pacesetters they usually have some good deals.
Pacesetters have been proven to be a good budget header. obx are hit and miss with fitment issues.
