headers shorty or long
#1
I am getting ready to purchase headers for my 2000 5.3 ec silverado ive heard that long headers are alot better for power but I will need to do major exhaust work. Or the shorty headers easy install very little power increase.

You got it. Although the major exhaust work with the long tubes is not really the case. Just have to cut the old exhaust before the cats and weld up your collectors. I have a pic on my page that shows the collector and cat finished.
Go with mid or long tubes, if you plan on future mods. If your going for looks and sound, shorties are for you.

Coated shorties are the same if not more expensive than mid/long tubes.
Here is one example:

That is suggested retail, you can buy them for $550-$650 from places online.
