Default Header - stainless steel versus mild steel

Looking to add some long tubes to my 09 5.3L. I live in Canada so pricing is a lot higher than in the US. As such I'm debating between the stainless and mild steel pacesetters. The price difference is about $200 for the headers alone. I really want to keep this on a budget and the extra $200 would likely go towards a tune.
I've only ever had stainless headers before but want to know how the mild steel ones have held up for guys...especially anyone in the north who sees a lot of cold weather.

Not all SS is the same. Any 4xx series is pretty much crap over a long term.

3XX series are good. Better if it ends in a L. Like 316L or 304L.

Doesn't hurt to ask the seller. If it is a 4xx not worth your time.

I've got just the coated pacesetter headers as my budget didn't allow for the armor coat headers. They are on 07 TBSS for two years and no signs of any damage. Only shitty thing is their gaskets but just use GM ones!

Stainless. No brainer.. It is one time, never worry about replacing them again.. Pace setters last maybe 3-4 years in a icey wet place.. Been there done that..

Ordered some Speed Engineering LT's including the Y pipe yesterday. The price on these, shipped to Canada was about $50 more than the mild steel pacesetter (headers only). Looking forward to getting them!
