i got a 6.0 lq4 and just order a set of shorty headers, and i got a set of sims for the 02, but now i am just woundering how i should set up my exhaust from here? X-H-Y pipe? or keep the stock pipe and just puch out my cats?

 

shoulda done LTs.. but since u have it just bolt it right up to ur existing y pipe.. no sense in spending like double to get hi flows or a straight y-pipe when u coulda done LTs and done a tru dual or somethin. Just my opinion of course

 

right on... so i kinda wasted some money there... i order the shortys and then i found sims online still and wanted to, well then i just kicked my self in the sack for it.
but yall think just keep the stock Y then? or is just not worth even punching out my cats?

not unless u get it tuned cuz u'll never pass emissions and all that good nonsence. If I were u I would bail those on ebay and try and find some LTs off ebay or Summitracing has some good deals. But if ur gonna do the shortys just hook it right up. Its all ur preferance anyway, Im just saying off what I've gathered so far u get more gain out of LTs cuz of scavenging.

 

well before i just bail on em think ill get any kinds of real gain out of it? the reason why is i am trying to knock out my exhaust over X-mass case after that i am not gonna have the time to tear it all down... but your right its better to do it 1 time right than do it half assed twice

Not likely to see more than ~5 hp out of the shorties. The stock manifolds really aren't all that bad.

Go for a set of longtubes dump the cats and get a custom tune! You won't need those sims after the tune either.
