Header Help

Take a close look at the Thorley 310Y Tri-Y headers, too. They offer most of the benefits of long tubes (much improved low to mid-range torque) and they do not trail off in the 4,000 to 6,000 range like long tubes. Here are some links on the Thorleys to look at http://www.thorleyheaders.com/tech_basics_triy.html, https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....03&postcount=8. The 310Y's come with a Y-pipe. Buy ceramic coated headers, whatever the brand.

I got the TOG headers (The Other Guys) from TByrne, if I would have done anything different it would have been getting them coated the first time. Not being coated they threw o2 heater codes since the o2's were to far back and not getting enough heat from the exhaust. Once coated they made more of an improvemant as well as ridded the o2 codes being thrown.
Don't get shorties, it's true, they make little difference. DO get them coated whatever you get. Don't run them open header anymore than you ABSOLUTELY need to. Fresh air will hit the o2 sensor when at cruise or low throttle and will freak the PCM out. The PCM thinks it's running WAY lean since the o2's are picking up lots of oxygen and will load the motor up with lots of fuel. I went through 2 sets of plugs and about 1/4 of a tank in less than 30 miles.
The TOG headers go in without having to modify the Y pipe. Just cut the manifolds off about an inch in front of the cats, and pull them out like that. Take it to an exhaust shop, I've had them welded up twice, and was charge 40 bucks both times I think by 2 different shops.
