Id personally just get a standard weld on 3 hole flangs..one of colector...one on y pipe each side...like these

I would get these. Actually I have some that are brand new but the are 3" to 2.25" so I don't know if they are of use to anyone. They should seal up great with no gasket and you don't have to have everything perfectly lined up.

I used the flowmaster ball flange kit as well....welded them in myself in the driveway with a MIG and a sawzall...after a mandatory re-torque they are leak free for 5 months now

What exactly is a v-band flange??? Is this something new or do you just replace the crappy pacesetter clamps with v-band clamps and the pipes still get corroded together making it a PIA to remove?

the clamps will be stainless. But the flanges themselves will be mild steel. Coat the outside edges of flanges with a bit of anti-sieze before you tighten down the clamp and youll be good to go.
