Default Having some problems S.C. Tahoe.....

Well, Here goes.

1.Truck states that cylinder 7 is misfiring. Could this be spark plugs? what should I replace them with? (I have a 5.3 superchargeed ATI)Are the champion plugs OK.

2. If I relieve the tension on my belt I can physically rock the altenator back and forth. What is missing to make it do this? The shop that changed my belt must have left something out. I see a compression fitting on the front but nothing in the back of the alt. just the theaded bracket. Whats missing? It is causing my belt to squeek...

Thanks for the insight-

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> the dreaded missing number 7!!

could be alot of stuff like a bad plug, wire or coil. alot of SC guys run the ngk TR6

could be a broken piston, and it seems like the number 7 piston is the first to go so this is a little scary.

prety easy to swap the plug, wire and coil with another cylinder. if that doesn't change anything then a compresion test.

Change those Plugs out ..
I have gone to the Ngk TR6 plugs with a .40 Gap seems to be working fine.
Have you pulled the plugs out to see that they look like ?
pulling the plugs and replacing them would be the first step.
I have a strange squeek when my truck gets nice and hot I haven't found out where it's coming from as of yet
As for the Alternator go over you install manual and see if they may have missed something
I've shreded one belt too date with my kit the new belt seems to be holding better .I think the old one was slipping that's maybe why it wore out
How's the new tranny holding up on the truck ?

Thanks guys,

Parish, Really? I dont want a new motor....Tell me more. Why # 7. This is going to be expensive I just know it....I guess I should start looking at the 6.0 upgrade. Who sells these 6L motors and what do you recommend-

SKI, The tranny is awesome. Day 2 I broke the axle shaft. Moser made some better ones. That said I love the tranny. I like it better than the ATI. It can light the wheels up at 40mph no problem....

uh oh! not #7! how much boost are you running and for how long? i just yanked a 4.8 that was running about 10lbs and it blew a hole in the piston. good luck with that. and definately use the tr6's, champions suck in a chevy anyway.

i really dont know much about it other than at least 2 times people had problems with number 7 and it was a broken piston.

on other engines i have melted the tip off of a spark plug, maybe that is all that it is. good luck.
