Have mercy

Ok, first of all I hope you guys have a little mercy on me here. I've never posted on the truck section before, but I was just curious if any of the new Dodge Hemi's are of any competition to you. My wife loves the new Dodge trucks and we just ordered one. I have to say I like them as well so of course I got the hemi. Anyways, how are they compared performance wise? I mean on the street if any of you have raced one how do they compare? Don't get me wrong, I love LS1's and would never part with my Formula. Thnx.

The new Reg Cab Dodges are about 600lbs heavier. The engine puts out 345hp and 375tq. That extra power is used to catch up to the Chevy's because of the extra 600lbs. They run about the same in the 1/4. I have heard of only one Reg Cab Hemi running 14.86 supposedly stock, but a Chevy can run that time stock as well.

For what I have heard if the could improve the tranny they would much quicker. I heard something about the tranny robbing alot of hp to the rear wheels on those. The engines i hear are great but like i said the drive train robs alot

They have the best TV commercials by far. I have not had the chance to run one yet but trucks outnumber cars around here two to one with a bunch of Dodges in the mix so it's just a matter of time. So far, anything short of a Lightning has been no problem for me except other GMs.

They are still really new so theres not a lot of parts out yet. Dodge is not as popular as GM for moding so you,ll have that, good or bad, working for you.
The trani (5-speed auto) is not performance orientated so addresing that could yeald big improvments. Harder shifting and more stall would be the way to go. Maybe with a corvette servo... Oh sorry wrong make

Cool, thanks for the info. Yea, I bet you guys are right about the tranny. When I test drove one though, it did apear that they put considerable stall in them. The stock exhaust seems pretty free flowing and fairly loud.
Wow, I didn't know they were that much heavier though. I did opt for the optional 3:92 gears so maybe that might help a little.
Can stock GM trucks really run high 14's stock? That's pretty impressive.
