Would that mean you will be going from a clutch fan to a non-clutch fan? If so, you may see a reduction in gas mileage (for instance) as the fan will turn continuously. I spoke with Flexalite about doing this a few months ago and they recommended against doing it. I would also like to hear if anyone has tried this.

I've done it on an old 79 model trans am I had. It was noisy as hell and gas mileage sucked, although mileage sucked anyways on the car. But it never got hot again, period.

Those fans are definately noisy, probably drive you insane in short order. If you do it make sure to get one with the correct rotation....DON'T ask me how I know.

They do make the flex fans like that to use with a fan clutch, but then that kinda defeats the purpose. Besides, I weighed my clutch fan and clutch and it was right at about 5-7 pounds. The blade might weigh less, but I can't imagine it being much. Like I said though, cooling definitely would not be an issue though.
