for a full cnc job its anywhere from 800 to 1100, thats just porting

 

Good luck welding up those aluminum heads when you mess them up You asked for "possible downfalls" and people tried to help and you got pissed?

 

Yeah if you mess them up you might as well get another set I bought mine used for $175 but good luck.

 

Did you guys have bigger valves put in while you were at it or what? Anyone running a 2.00" int on a 4.8/5.3? I would love to port a set of these, but I've always been affraid, because all my experience is with cast iron.

In car craft a few months ago, they ran a great article on porting LSX heads. They had very good cross-sectional views so you can see where the water jackets and rocker bolts are.

 

Yeah a went as big as I could go with the stock valve seat and that was a 2.02 and 1.57. Isaw that article two it was very helpful and I think thats what got me motivated into porting my heads.

 

How much did it cost to have the valves put in? You said you used the stock seat. Do you mean the stock size, without cutting the head? I assume you had to replace the seat with the new valve.

 

You can only cut down the stock seat so far before you have to put a bigger seat in ink I but you can go to a 2.02 1.57 with the stock seats. I think I paided like $125 to cut for the bigger valves, three angle valve job, and to have them seated.
