i have test pipes in place of my cats, so i assume that gutted cats would sound similar. the best description i have heard is "damn, your truck sounds like a mustang w/ an x-pipe!!!!". If you have an aftermarket tune or can tune yourself you can just shut off the mil indicator and it's all good. except for smog checks. from what i've heard, you can't pass smog like that unless you know a smog guy.

Run a peice of pipe through them! Just think, the gases are flowing through a 2.5" pipe and hit a large chamber where they expand and then have to be forced back into the same diameter pipe (if you gut them) It only causes turbulence which makes it sound like **** and flow like, well, ****. Either run a pipe throught the cats or ditch them all together.

if you run a 2.5" in replace of the cats, will it sound the same as if you were to just gut the cats? Better? louder? i have a 3" dynomax bullet dumped before the axle and its pretty loud but i think it needs more of a tone to it during the higher rpms, will replacing the cats with a 2.5" pipe make that happen? Sound clips?

Do you have LT's yet if not when you get them get the ORY and also get a custom Y w/cats made for your emmisions testing and just swap'em back and fourth when need be.

The only thing is, we just got the new emissions crap last year (obd scan, visual, safety) and everyone is still scared of getting caught. I could probably get away with it, but swapping back and forth is too much trouble IMO. anyway, lets get back with the original post.
